PLEASE COME BACKCatfish Haven
Please Come BackSecretly Canadian : 2006
[Buy It]Dear Moistworks faithful:
We hope you'll agree that over the past few weeks, Moistworks has gone above and beyond the call of duty. After our massive Writer's Week blowout and a volley of long, detailed posts from the regular contributers, we're all feeling a bit drained. We didn't manage to get anything at all up yesterday, and today was looking grim until I stepped in with this quickie. Things are a little chaotic at Moistworks Global HQ - Alex is leaving the country for another one of his organ-harvesting schemes; Beta's recuperating from yet another Civil War re-enactment gone bad; James bumped his head on a height-restriction bar at the McDonald's drive-thru and is now just spouting gibberish; Joanna has temporarily forsaken corporeal form to drift in the upper atmosphere as an atomized mist. I'm writing this post as I try to extricate my foot from a bear trap, doggedly clinging to consciousness in order to turn you on to this young Chicago band,
Catfish Haven. "Please Come Back" is several things - the title of the song above, the title of the debut EP from which it's taken, an entreaty to you, the reader, to bear with us for the time being, and a damn scorcher of a rock song that requires little explanation. You can read my full review of Catfish Haven
here, but the most important thing to note is that I'm not usually that into this sort of straightfoward rock. These guys have everything in its right place, and melodies that sear themselves into your brain on the first encounter. Enjoy the track, and stay tuned for a triumphant return to our ongoing creed: You'll come for the free music, but you'll stay for the relentless navel-gazing.
