I have no clue how this nugget ended up in my collection. When I googled Ellen Mcllwaine, I see her cover of Stevie Wonder's "Higher Ground" was sampled by Fatboy Slim on "Song For Lindy" and, since then, she has begun popping up on the occassional funk/DJ compilations.

This is the kind of blues rock that gets the hippys out of their swaying "dawn-of-man" pantomime dances and into that serious pagan sex-party thing. Its a brand of folky funk that normally makes me want to drive nails into my head, but I'm really digging this: its really tite and got that super solid (double?) bass.

I don't have Ellen's version of "Higher Ground" but there are exactly 101 different versions available for you to download on iTunes.
