I just wrote a long review of this terrific new band for Pitchforkmedia.com, so instead of rehashing what I said there, I'll simply direct you to the review. It's rare that we review a self-released album on Pitchfork (I believe the last time was Ratatat last year); rarer still that we drop such a massive rating on one. But this band's got everything in the right place - discernible influences synthesized into something unique, a distinct vocal presence, an emphasis on song over style, and a sound that's instantly endearing and broadly accessible. I think you're going to love it. Other than that - I was going to do this long meditation on the increasing necessity of paying a PR firm to get your music reviewed and whether or not this has elements of the insidious, but I'm feeling very taciturn today. You probably don't want to hear about it anyway, listening to the songs is a lot more fun.
